This is the last Loco of my holiday re-paints and probably my favourite. I purchased this Loco in full LNER livery with condensing systems and early safety valves. I have now stripped off all the equipment that is not required for a BR variant and added new items. I then repainted and renumbered as necessary. Note this Loco has a lowered cab roof and is made of canvas.

This actual Loco did spend some time in Scotland in the forties but is pure GE in origin. There was some amendments carried out to help shunting, this included enlarged cab steps and an extra hand rail – I have not done these mods as I am still researching and hope to find the right logo for a GE only variety, so that a further renumbering may take place.

As well as doing lots of steam repaints over the holiday, I also decided to renumber some of my Blue pre-tops locos into another era. I chose 1976-79 as it was the era I started to rekindle my interest in Railways and Railway Modelling.. I selected ten loco’s, some weathered, some not. I have quite a job to re-weather and weather them all for their new era and this will take some time. Anyway this Class 37 is the first, it was originally D6753 and is now 37054, as it was a March and Stratford engine around this time. I used to see it a lot in this era.

Again a purchase that had been hanging around for a couple of years. I thought this was going to be the least complicated of the recent batch but it did not turn out that way! When purchased this Loco was in LNER lined Black, and I just wanted to change it to BR lined black. Well I think the transfers were ‘welded’ on, they just would not budge. It was therefore another complete strip down, then repaint.

After repainting, lining and numbering, I must admit it all turned out very well and I am very pleased.

61801 was a Cambridge and March engine for many years.

This loco is a model made by Bachmann Brass about 10 years ago. When I purchased it about three years ago, it was in unnumbered and unlined condition in base LNER livery. I had to repaint it in BR Standard Loco Green livery, line and number it. I chose 60938 a Loco that was based at March 31B in the late 50’s and early 60’s.

This is a Loco I purchased about three years ago. It was mostly finished but needed a few tweaks. The main problem was that it was painted in LNER Lined Green and I do not Model LNER! About three weeks ago I decided to strip the green paint and completely re-finish the Loco.

I have finished it as a Lowestoft Loco No 67214 as running in the mid 1950’s, just before withdrawal in 1958. This loco runs very well and will be lightly weathered at a later date.

This is a renumber, rename and re-logo job for my mate Mike. I think Mike has had the Loco for some time and he was researching an ideal identity for it based on the different quirks of the B17 build and/or works changes. I had to change the BR Logos as one was facing the wrong way and then number and name the Loco. The Loco in the late 50’s was based at 31B March Shed and carries this shed plate on the smokebox door.

The Makers Plates beneath the Nameplate still need to be ordered as Mike feels the ones he has purchased could be wrong. I also need to paint the safety valves and whistle a brass colour, it was a bit of a rush to get the below photos between showers hence not quite finished on photos.

Here we have two recently purchased Dapol 08’s . Both have been renumbered and had the different Scottish Depot Logos added. The White Stag is the Inverness Logo and Leaping Salmon is Sheilds Road/Motherwell Logo. One has been left in ex works condition and the other has been given a light weathering/fade.

I have one or two little tweaks to do, but they almost finished.

Another recent purchase, a Class 60 in Construction Livery. This Loco is 60019 Wild Boar Fell. The transfers are Railtec and the plates are Protoneo. It will be weathered later.

This is the last of this batch of new Heljan 47’s. This time it is of 47573 in NSE Livery. I am still trying to obtain the nameplates but since the release of the 47’s some nameplates have become very rare.

This item is still to be weathered.

This is my 3rd Heljan Class 47 – 47482. After a lot of research I choose to do a Loco that was allocated to Inverness for a period in 1988. It received the Highland Stag Logo, but not snowploughs.
