Little Sefton At Bury St. Eds. Ex.

I thought you would all like an update on this Layout. It is now owned by Group member Graham, but is still using my rolling stock until Graham ‘Spratts’ his stock.

Graham has made some changes to the layout, mainly a switchable system between DC and DCC, but also the layout now has working Yard lights. The layout is still available for Exhibitions and is bookable through this site. I like to call it ‘Little Sefton at dusk with sound’

I would like to thank the BSE Club for their great hospitality and a superb Show – Looking forward to their anniversary Exhibition at the BSE Cathedral with a different layout.

Another excellent set of photos by my Wife.

OO Sentinel Pair Weathered

Here are two Sentinels, one straight from the box, but the other has moved from LNER branding to Early BR and in Departmental service. Getting transfers for the move to a Departmental Loco proved very difficult – the Departmental Loco and number were obtained from Fox transfers, but I could not trace any Civil Engineers transfers of the correct size and BR(E) logo. In the end I cut up some ‘Beer Wagon’ transfers in O Gauge to form the BR.E logo that was also used on this type engine – but not No. 42. I will call this a fair representation rather than accurate for the No 42.

I have also added some extra coal since the photos were taken.

OO wagons weathered

Another batch of wagons I started at The Dereham Demo. These were also treated to some Designer Gouache rusting and general wear and tear. Again I used Satin Varnish and Enamel Paints to finish.

O Gauge wagon weathering (PT2)

The next batch are four Tank Wagons. Two are the latest Dapol Models as early Esso TTV ‘s – the other two are kit built BP TTA’s by Skytrex.

Enamel Paints only were used on these wagons – both Airbrushed and Dry Brushed

O Gauge wagon weathering (PT1)

Here we have some various wagons weathered by using Designer Gouache as well as airbrushed Enamel paints – firstly two Hoppers, a Van and Shock open.

I did all the brush work using the Designer Gouache at a Demo at the Dereham Exhibition, I then airbrushed them with Satin Varnish to seal them and weathered the Chassis with Enamels as normal.

I find that using DG helps me to create a little depth to the rust etc, rather than enamels that can look a little flat!

Holmes J36 in O Gauge.

Just spent the last of my Swap-meet sales money on this beauty – 65327 Prototype made in 1900 and withdrawn in 1965. I need to change the late BR logo to the early version and of course weather it – but no time to do that at present.

47231 Speedlink in O Gauge

My latest O Gauge Diesel is 47231 in 3 tone grey and named ‘The Silcocks Express’. I recently sold a lot of OO stock at a Swap-meet and the move to O Gauge continues. This Engine was a member of the Tinsley Speedlink allocation and performed all over the country. I even have a photo of it working a Summer Saturday passenger train in the late 80’s.

Railtec Transfers – Protoneo Plates

To be weathered later/

Little Sefton at Long Melford

Last weekend was a very busy one – after being at Dereham on Saturday, we were at the Sudbury Club organised Charity Exhibition on Sunday. We took Grahams Little Sefton Layout after purchasing it off me a couple of weeks ago. We were still running my stock as Grahams had not been prepared yet.

The Exhibition was very busy, the ‘star of the show’ was Nigel Locke’s magnificent Long Melford Junction, but all layouts and displays were top class and much appreciated by the public. As the attendance was larger than expected, a special mention to the Catering Team who did superb work and kept us all fed and watered.

Gare de Brindille at Dereham Ex.

On Saturday 2/3/24 we were at the Mid Norfolk Model Railway Exhibition – we had Grahams 16mm (SM32) WW1 Layout there. A few Photos taken by my wife on this very enjoyable and busy day.

This Layout is at March Model Railway Exhibition on 9/3/24 – come and say hello.
