Here are my recent purchases from Heljans new Class 73 range. So far this was only a detailing, numbering and naming exercise. They now join the long list of stock to be weathered.
Transfers are Railtec and the nameplates are from Protoneo.

Doing the last few Locos that need naming and/or numbering. The first one is Deltic number 55003 MELD in its final working condition. The nameplates are Fox and the transfers are Railtec. I need to source another set of windscreen wipers as this loco had two per window. I last saw this Loco at KX on the day John Lennon was killed.
Will be weathered in future – but it is at the back of a rather large queue.
Sadly not done any modelling during Xmas, but here are a couple I worked on prior to Xmas. They are from very diverse eras. Sadly I am so far behind with weathering, it will be many months before I can finish them properly.
Freightliner Class 08.
I purchased this loco from a box shifter for a bargain £150, it was an unnumbered Loco. I have now numbered it 08530, this Loco has spent some time in East Anglia. After research I found three photos of it working at Felixstowe. I have removed the vacuum pipes, added windscreen wipers as well as numbering.
BR(S) Class D 4-4-0
I purchased this Loco as part of a job lot about 2 years ago. After testing it, it was deemed a non runner. I then left if for nearly a year, when I had a conversation with my friend Ian (Trainman ) Hammond who said he would take a look at it for me. I know the regeneration had some twists and turns but in the end I was handed back a lovely running Loco. My thanks go to Ian for saving the day. I have since given it some cosmetic TLC and it now looks and runs great. It will now become part of my BR(S) Engine Shed layout.
Latest purchase is a J20 – this is kit built to a very good standard and only needs a few tweek’s and a better weathering job.
On Saturday (4/11/23) we are attending the Stowmarket RMC Open Day with a layout. I was asked by a member that will also be attending, to do a quick weathering job on four early wagons that he needs to run on a Club layout, here are the results.
Stowmarket MRC Open Day – 10.30 to 2.30 – 4/11/23
At – Stowmarket Football Club – Events Room
Come and see what the Club does and its projects – we will talk anything Model Railways – any Gauge.
Today at the Whitwell and Reepham Model Railway Exhibition I was given 10 minutes to Examine and run a prototype Accurascale DS88. WOW – yes please – at least two. Very Special thanks to Helen and Anne from GEM for the chance to run the prototype on Little Sefton.
I took these photos when I had a photo session on my O Gauge layout Little Sefton a couple of weeks ago – somehow I missed these. Both need weathering before going into service.
Some of you may remember that I discovered this layout in the Spring in a very distressed condition with very thick mould. I have since used mould inhibitor twice and waited two months to see if it was successful. Thankfully it was and I have just taken advantage of the recent hot weather to paint the layout. It would have been terrible if I had to stop this project after all the work done last year. I am trying to do a slightly different fiddle yard, it allows a small degree of shunting in the fiddle yard using the sector plate without the loco(s) moving on to the main scenic boards. The shelves are to stores stock awaiting railing.
London Transport is the reason the O Gauge layout Dark Lane was Built – I just wanted something a bit different. It was also decided to use DCC Sound in all Locos – four Ex GWR panniers.
Here we have some BR(S) Locos posed on my Dark Lane Layout. Although Dark Lane is a DCC layout, I do use it as a Photo Plank to Photograph non fitted Locos. Below are some of the photos taken this morning.
