Here are two more wagons – a Hopper and a Brake Van. Nothing unusual about these, usual methods. Just one little move from what was wanted on the Hopper. Was instructed to do very heavily rusted, but after doing the ‘wash and wipe’ it looked so good that I continued on the dirty but no rust route.
Month: July 2019
37415 Mount Etna – now weathered.
Well, here it is after a visit to the painting section for a medium weathering session. Just about what I wanted – but may revisit again later.
New Dapol Salt Wagons
These are my first attempts at weathering the new Dapol Salt Wagons. Reasonably happy with the results, but will reflect on them and may revisit them later. Salt is corrosive and I was unsure on how much rust to model – I had a few photo’s but all were Black and white which was not helpful.
LNER Y7 Tank Engine
A revamp and a repaint for an existing Loco. A Light to medium to weathering is added to this charming little Loco.
4 Ministry Tanks and 2 opens.
Here we have six wagons in a batch for my friend Mike, all are weathered to a Medium standard. Being Dapol products, all tampo print was sealed with varnish before weathering – this avoids the thinners in the ‘wash’ attacking the print !
Type B Ministry (Heavy Fuel)
Type A Ministry (Light Fuel)
Open Wagons
A quick tip here – after washing and weathering the planking is still not picked out very well – just use a pencil and follow the groves – that will highlight them a bit more !
Another 05 – as a Class 97
After John and myself took advantage of the current offers on Heljan 05’s, Graham decided to take the plunge and purchase a ‘Blue’ variety.
As modelled this is the wrong type of 05 for the only example that ended up in Blue on the Isle of Wight. The modifications to make it into the correct, earlier example were just more than we wanted to do. Enter 97803 and modellers licence!
I have to say I very much enjoyed numbering and weathering this ‘tongue in cheek’ model !!!
Tin Turtle No. 2. Partially Armoured
After our first outings with 4000 yards – area 5, Graham decided to make another Tin Turtle. Our first one was Fully Armoured, this one is Partially Armoured. I guess we now have the full set as we also have the open model with No Armour.
The Move from OO to O Gauge
To show my commitment to move from OO to O Gauge here is a photo of the same Class 26 Loco in both gauges.
I spent most of yesterday adding the full yellow front on the O gauge Model, hand brushed two undercoats and four topcoats. The model was then detailed and numbered as D5335, the only Loco I can find in this Class with a warning panel like this.
After finishing I put the OO Class 26 on Ebay. Here are some photo’s of the Loco’s for the one and only time!!!!
