I started this O Gauge Terminal Branch Line Station in 2017 ! It was slowly shelved due to the number of Exhibitions I was attending, work on other layouts, nowhere I could keep or work on the assembled layout and then Covid etc.
Anyway, after all this time I have decided to revive this layout with no name and make it my ‘winter project’ I am nearly 78 years old and find Exhibiting very tiring now, although I have some good helpers on the day(s) it is still me that has to spend the day before getting ready and the day after putting everything away. I have been doing between 15 and 20 Exhibitions a year for the last 30 years, all in East Anglia. I have no wish to stop Exhibiting but have now decided that 5 or 6 next year will be the most. After the layout is finished it is my intension to invite small groups of friends around for running sessions, this I hope will make up for less Exhibition attendances.
Back to the layout now – I have revised the fiddle yard that included reducing the length by four inches so that it will now fit in my garage. The back boards will now go on the other side so that operation can now take place from the front and not the back. All DC electrics were done on the original attempt and many buildings are made painted and weathered, so feel it is still a manageable project. I want as much flexibility as possible with both regions and eras and envision the scope will be 1950 to 1970 without any buildings or infrastructure swapping.
I have also decided not to permanently join the baseboards so that it would still be possible to exhibit locally if transport could be arranged, it would no go in my car!!!
