The O Gauge Station Layout will be named ‘Bogles Wood’. Its named after a mythical being that is in English and Scottish Folk Law.
I have now cleaned all the track, tested all the points, isolating sections and uncoupling magnets, I have added an extra isolating section. I have tested the whole layout and after a few tweaks it ran extremely well, considering it had not run for over 10 years.
I have been working most of the day in the Garage today and I need to make a few decisions especially about whether I fill in the gaps behind baseboards caused by the wall having a reinforcing pillar half way along the length, see photos below. It was originally the viewing side, but I removed the backboards on what now becomes the viewing and operating side. If I do fill in the spaces on the now rear of the layout, I would refit some backboards on the extension and around the pillar. As I originally said, I was not discounting Exhibiting the layout much later, however this modification would render that virtually impossible. I would gain about four inches scenic area over the length of the boards, except the dreaded pillar part.
Only downside was that there was some minor water damage caused by a leak in the shed that it was housed in. This area is now packed with all my other layouts – I really need to get it sorted before more layouts are damaged !!!!
